THE STANDARD @ BANGKOK MAHANAKHON |
SPACES/ TRAVEL • FEB 2026 • BANGKOK, THAILAND
Housed within the striking, pixelated architecture of the Ole Scheeren-designed King Power Mahanakhon skyscraper, The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon introduces a vibrant interior landscape to the city's central business district. Conceived by Spanish designer Jaime Hayon in collaboration with the hotel’s in-house design team, the space deliberately departs from traditional minimalist luxury in favor of a bold, retro-futurist aesthetic. The design language is characterized by fluid shapes, rounded mid-century contours, and a rich palette of bright, jewel-toned colors. This maximalist approach is thoughtfully grounded by the integration of traditional Thai craftsmanship, most notably seen in the sweeping canopies of oversized, locally handmade rattan lamps that anchor the lush, green oasis of the lobby.
