GODS AND MONSTERS |
TRAVEL • DEC 2014 • CAMBODIA (PHNOM PENH, SIEM REAP, BATTAMBANG)
The grandeur that is the Angkor Architectural park, spanning a few hundreds of square kilometers, is perhaps only matched in scale by the brutality of the Khmer Rouge genocide in the late 1970's that wiped out one fourth of the country's population.
And thus the perfect contrast of Cambodia's rich history is presented.
If the sprawling templex complexes of Angkor were the highlight of the trip, then the visit to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and the Killing Fields sat right at the other end of the experience spectrum as we came to realisation of the vivid unthinkable stories that happened here.
